This is a Wisely (衛斯理) story collection. On a lazy morning, Wisely receives a tape recording from archaeologist Xiong Yi. The tape records rhythmic sounds, a desperate angry woman's cry, followed by a choir-like lament. The painful woman's cry stimulates Wisely's nerves — it is the cry closest to death. Xiong Yi boldly hypothesizes that the tape recorded a murder! But this cannot be confirmed because the tape's true owner died in an accident. Can Wisely uncover the truth? The story '盡頭' (The End) is a严厉 condemnation of human nature, suggesting humanity has reached its end.
